Rano Raraku, formerly known as Mauƞa ʹĒʹo, is a volcano of significant archaeological value. It is characterized as the quarry where the moai were manufactured. It is a site that was crucial for the creation of hundreds of mōai, carved by different sculptors’ hands with their toki (the main tool for carving). It offers beautiful landscapes and the opportunity to see various statues with different characteristics and heights, some in the process of being transported to their āhu. Notable examples include Tukuturi, the unique mōai in a kneeling position, Te Tokaŋa, a mōai standing approximately 21 meters tall, and many more.
